I am a very involved Grandmother and I would like to give high praise to Miss Mathre. She is a wonderful, youthful, caring & compassionate 1st grade teacher. My granddaughter's acedemic growth was substantial this year under Miss Mathre's leadership. She is an outstanding teacher and one your school district should be proud to have. I would also like to add that I live in a larger rural school district that has more funds for spending per student. That said, during my visits to your school, I have seen a great deal of patriotism, respect, and admiration in your students. That comes from your leadership team. Money can not buy that! Great job!

Spoon River Valley is a small school out in the middle of a cornfield. It was a farm called Roundtop owned by Peter TenEyck in 1837. We have the loveliest playground. The children can run around in acres of grass. I feel most all the teachers have one main goal: to make learning fun and enjoyable. We are trying to keep learning interesting so that when a child decides what he/she is good at doing, he/she will have the desire to continue the education.
